ZEC mining guide
From box to first shares in about an hour. Written for the Antminer Z15, Z15K and Z15 Pro. If you are hosting with us, we do steps 2 to 7 for you, but read them anyway; they explain what Foreman shows.
Get a ZEC wallet
Any wallet that gives you a Zcash address. A transparent address (starts with
t1) works with every pool; shielded addresses (u1/zs1) are supported by 2Miners and ViaBTC and keep your balance private.Check your power
Z15 Pro: 200–240 V AC, at least 16 A per unit, 2780 W continuous. Z15: 10 A, 1510 W. Do not run a Pro on a household extension lead.
Give it air
The miner exhausts hot air from the back. It needs cool intake at the front (below 35 °C) and a way out for about 2.8 kW of heat. Ambient over 40 °C throttles the chips.
Connect and find it
Plug in Ethernet before power. Find the miner's IP address in your router's client list (hostname
antMiner) or with Bitmain's IP Reporter tool. Open the IP in a browser.Log in and update
Default login is
root/root. Change the password first. Then check the firmware version against Bitmain's site and update if a newer stable release exists.Configure the pool
Miner Configuration → General Settings. Enter three pools in order of preference, for example
stratum+tcp://zec.2miners.com:1010, workerYOUR_ZEC_ADDRESS.rig1, passwordx. Save and apply.Verify on the pool
Within 10–15 minutes your address appears on the pool's website with a hashrate near the rated figure. If it is 10% low, check ambient temperature and fan speed. If it is zero, check the stratum URL for typos.
Monitor and maintain
Check hashrate and chip temperatures weekly. Blow out dust filters monthly. Keep the miner on a UPS if your grid is unstable; power cuts are the most common cause of failed hashboards.
Skip steps 2–8
Hosted with us, the miner is unboxed, tested, configured with your pool and wallet, and monitored 24/7. You do step 1 and watch Foreman.
Common mistakes
- Running on 110–120 V (won't start)
- Wi-Fi bridges (unstable; use cable)
- Leaving the default password
- Sealing the miner in a cupboard
- Copying the pool URL with a trailing space
